4 Ways To Fall In Love With Your Home Again

It is a really important and valuable thing to be able to enjoy spending time in your own home. When you are not really feeling this way, of course, it can be a troublesome time indeed, and it’s something that you are going to want to overcome as best as you can. The truth is that there are a lot of things you can do to fall back in love with your home, and in this post we are going to take a look at what some of those might be. All of these changes are worth looking into.

Have A Spring Clean

One way to do this quickly and yet thoroughly is to have a spring clean. If it happens to have been a long time since you last thoroughly cleaned your home, then this is a sure way to get it back to a decent condition again, and before you know it you will certainly be much happier with your home on the whole. Get the whole family to join in and you will have it done in no time. This is something that can be done at any time of year, and it is always going to be worth your while.

Remodel A Room

If you want to make a more significant change, you might want to consider remodeling a room as well. It doesn’t even matter too much which room you remodel, it is nonetheless going to make a difference – but you might want to think about one of the major rooms that tend to be most important for people in their homes. For instance, if you carry out a kitchen remodel, you are probably going to notice a huge difference in the home. Likewise, remodeling a bathroom tends to have a similar effect. Both of these are worth thinking about.

Try A New Perspective

Sometimes you just need to look at your home in a slightly different way or from different angles, and an easy way to quite literally do that is to change the perspective of each room through the clever use of mirrors, plus changing furniture around. You might be surprised at just how much of a difference these kinds of changes can make, and it could be enough to really get you to fall back in love with your home again. It is worth trying out, at the very least, as you never know whether it might work well.

Paint

Finally, consider a repaint. Repainting the entire home is certainly going to make a difference, as is simply repainting one or two of the most important rooms in the house. If you can do this, you should find that your home looks and feels like new in no time, so this is something that you will want to bear in mind. A paint job is often all it takes to make your home feel like new, and to truly fall back in love with it again, so make sure that you are thinking about this.

Improving Your Presentation Skills Can Be A Valuable Effort

Pexels – CC0 License

Anyone who has had to give a speech/presentation at school, college, work, or even to friends and relatives, will no doubt understand how nerve-wracking it can be. Articulating points one after the other in a carefully-considered manner, being flexible and reactive enough to take questions, and doing so in a manner that doesn’t bore our audience to tears or leave us trembling with anxiety can be a hard ask.

But the truth is that presentation skills can be a valuable commodity if we decide to train them. We can look to great examples of smooth and sophisticated talkers that keep you engaged, like heads of state, actors, or internationally recognized icons like the ShamWow Guy Vince Offer to see how it’s done.

But what if we hope to work on those skills ourselves? Perhaps we want to run our own YouTube channel and present our ideas with an engaging tone, or we want to absolutely ace that bigwig interview opportunity we have in order to get that promotion or work for a highly competitive brand.

Where are you supposed to get started? In this post, we’ll discuss that and more:

Taking Public Speaking Classes

Public speaking classes can be a great way to dip your toe into this effort without having to do this for real. A nurturing teacher and group all trying to do the same thing you are can help you feel a little bit more comfortable. When you can trip over your words or fumble an answer and realize that you can make it through without ruining your entire presentation, you’re less likely to feel as if this is a roadblock you can never overcome. Toastmasters is perhaps the most well known group, but there may be other initiatives in your local area worth considering, too.

Working On Your Enunciation & Diction

It’s good to work on how you enunciate words and to what degree you project your voice. Reading out the speeches of great leaders and trying to figure out the tone of their words, and how words should be delivered can help exercise your vocal chords, lips and tongue towards speaking efficiently and with care, especially if you tend to slur your words or mumble. Practice makes perfect.

Getting Stuck In & Out Of Your Comfort Zone

It’s important to realize that getting stuck in and trying to get out of your comfort zone in this manner can improve you as a person. When you actively seek something that you’re scared of and realize that actually, you have more than the potential to overcome it, something clicks in your mind. Don’t think that this is impossible, you’ve likely done this countless times without realizing it in the past. Doing so can help you identify your worth even more, which ironically (but beautifully) enough, can help feed into how you hold yourself when public speaking, too.

With this advice, we hope you can see how improving your presentation skills can be a great way of improving yourself as a person.

Making Cooking For Your Family Easier

When families can, we should dine together, but sometimes it’s hard to find the time. Each family member shares what they enjoyed doing that day during dinner. Getting together to eat can be challenging due to obligations such as work, school, and sports practices.  Yet, studies have demonstrated that home-cooked meals are healthier and happier for families. Every chance you get to eat together should be taken advantage of, whether it is every night or only once a week, in the morning before school or late at night for dessert. You’re about to learn how to prepare family meals that will keep everyone healthy, inspire important conversations, and remove the stress of gathering around the dinner table.

Plan Ahead

To begin with, schedule time for planning on Sunday. Make sure all of the ingredients you want to use are ready to use for the recipes you plan to make in advance. For meal planners, you can choose the ingredients you want for the recipes you plan to make. Even if you don’t like to plan your meals in advance, preparing ingredients for your meals in advance can save you time. For example, you could mince garlic, chop onions, peel vegetables and cut them into sticks. If you’re not a fan of preparation arrange a grocery store delivery to help reduce your time spent on this task.

Get Your Kids To Help

Allow your children to assist as suitable for their ages, such as cutting and slicing for young children, and juicing and shredding for older children and adults. Give them shortcuts for doing things, like making roasted potatoes in the instant pot. Little kids can also easily make pizza. You just need cheese and toppings. You can increase your child’s enthusiasm for both cooking and eating by involving them in the preparation process. One can go a long way if one takes pride in his/her work.

Batch Cook

You can prepare large quantities of meals as another great meal preparation strategy. It seems strange to create just one pot of sauce that would only serve one meal after you can easily double the recipe and have enough left over to serve additional meals over the next few weeks? Lasagne, chilli, soups, and stews freeze well, making them ideal for storing in large quantities. Put meal-sized pieces into freezer-safe containers or bags that are the appropriate size for your family and set up an assembly line with your children.

Give The Kids More Choice

If meals are interactive, children enjoy choosing their own toppings, and when adults prepare meals together, meals are always more enjoyable. Baked potato bars with your own toppings are cheap and easy to prepare, and baked potatoes last a long time. Nacho bars, taco fests, make-your-own tortilla stations, or oatmeal bars are all other good options. It is just a matter of preparing the base ingredients and setting out toppings the family will enjoy.

These four tips should help you to make cooking as a family easier. Do you have any other tips that could help? Please share them in the comments below.

Incorporating More Vegan Foods Into Your Mealtimes

Have you ever thought about following a vegan diet? Probably – a lot of people have tried to go vegan in the past, but have given up on it, thanks to just how hard it can be to completely turn a diet around like that. But if you still want to try the vegan diet, that’s not what you really have to do here. We can make it much easier!

After all, simply phasing out animal products here and there can work wonders for your health, and you know you’ll be doing your bit for the environment as well. So if you can swap out two to three normal meals for the vegan variety each week, you’ll be off to a very successful start. And to help out, here’s how to get started with your new diet.

Pexels Image – CC0 Licence

Swap Out Traditional Sauces and Condiments

If you like to have a squirt of mayonnaise on your sandwiches, or you love to dip nachos into a bit of salsa and sour cream, why not swap these out for the vegan varieties you can find at all stores? It’ll make a healthy change in an otherwise normal meal, and you’re unlikely to even taste the difference once you’re using the vegan products. And seeing as we like to lace our foods with all kinds of sauces, being able to use a plant based option instead can help to keep the fat and salt in our diets down.

Have a Pizza Party on Fridays

If you’re someone who loves to dig into a pizza, why not give yourself something to look forward to at the end of every week? Think of it as a bit of a reward for being so good at following your diet thus far, and have yourself a little pizza party that’s both healthy and totally enriching.

Indeed, there are a lot of vegan pizza options you can delve into, and more and more pizza companies are investing in making their menu more plant based. Make some normal pizza dough, or use Almond Flour for an even healthier boost, and then get some vegan cheese and plenty of vegetables to pack on top. Make two or three different types, and then settle down with your pizza in front of the TV with the rest of your family.

Dairy Free Can Be Super Easy!

Finally, maybe it’s time to just cut out dairy? It’s a great way to incorporate some kind of veganism into your diet, even if you’re not lactose intolerant, and it’ll certainly make baking cakes and cookies a lot healthier! If you like a sweet treat, simply use alternative butter and milk products to help keep an unhealthy level of trans fat out, and chow down on a cupcake knowing you’ve made a choice for the better here.

So, if you want to go vegan but you’re not sure where to start, make some small changes until you’re capable of following the bigger, meat free ones.

The Perfect Indoor Picnic

Do you ever get bored of evening meals? When we were children, we loved the days of unconventional meals, which means that sometimes as an adult, you need to get a little unconventional to have fun. You have to think about how important it is to you to have fun as a grown up and if you love a little of it from time to time, why not change up how you do your dinners?

Moving from the table to the floor for an indoor picnic might not be a bit of you, but if you’re happy to take food outside and eat on the grass in an unfamiliar place, then this should be a piece of cake. Sitting on the floor to eat doesn’t have to be uncouth or impolite. In fact, if it’s just the two of you and some Japanese food with umami sauce, it doesn’t have to be anything short of romantic! Lay blankets out, throw around some pillows and add a crackling fire to the TV just for some ambience and you’ve got yourself the perfect setting. But what about the menu? Well, you could go with a specific cuisine, but let’s take a look at this one below!

  • To drink. From lemonade (home made, of course) to a tray of wine glasses and icy sodas, you can really get creative with your drinks menu. You could choose to have drinks for every course if you want to! The point here is that you get to be choosy about your drinks selection. It’s the lemonade that will win it, though. This homemade, chilled drink is going to give your indoor picnic a summer feel.
  • To start. Pasta salad pots with beans and cold peas is going to go down a treat! As it’s a starter dish, think about making it smaller. Serve up in ramekins or singular dishes and everyone gets an individual portion without overfilling before the main event.
  • To enjoy. The main dish is the big event. Now, as this is a blanket picnic, it’s probably not a good idea to serve up everything that comes with a knife and fork! What you could do, though, is go for filled sandwiches. We’re talking packed out sandwiches with stacks of filling. You could offer a range of hot and cold meats, cheese, pickles and more. To go for something different, you could even leave a line of fillers and have everyone make their own sandwiches as part of the fun.
  • To the side. Potato salad, regular salad, coleslaw, finger foods – picnic food is so much fun and it’s even more fun to find options that everyone will enjoy.
  • To finish. Dessert. Can you even have a picnic without a dessert? Of course, not. Stick with the finger food routine for dessert, too. Go for mini everything: eclairs, doughnuts, fruit with dips – it’s all perfect for an inside picnic so choose it all and have a mini feast for your dessert.

Remodeling Your Bathroom

This is a sponsored post with Diamond Bloggers.

The Bathroom is one of my favorite rooms.  When I get a nice relaxing bath there is nothing better.  I have lived in a lot of older apartments and homes and one thing I can definitely say is renovate your bathroom.  If you are selling your home or just making it your space changing your bathroom can make a huge difference.

Of course, you always want the help of professionals.  Before you start looking make sure you have an idea of what you are looking for.  Do you want a claw foot bathtub, or a jacuzzi tub?  Do you even want a bathtub or are you a giant shower person.? Then start your google search.  Do a google search for your area like bath remodel in Tallahassee to find the help you need in your area.

There are a few things to consider when starting to remodel your bathroom.

The Size

Make sure you have the right measurements you don’t want to fall in love with a big jacuzzi tub just to find out you would have to get ride of the toilet to have it.  In this case size does matter.  Make sure you have enough room for a small book shelf or rack.  This will be perfect to place your books or candles in an area where you can easily reach them,

The Theme

When picking your theme, it is going to determine what kind of sink you have, The colors, the mirror.  If you are just picking up random stuff you may get it all together and it will just be a mess and not relaxing at all.

Picking your Color

The color is a key item when re doing your bathroom.  What ever your calm color is go with that shade.  If you are thinking of going with just one wall, go with the wall across from the mirror so you see it in the reflection.   When you pick your calm color think of adding your accent pieces like a little bin to put your toiletries in that matches.  This will not only blend in it will add to the calmness of the room.

Along with the color this will also help you decide on the tile or marble you will be using.  I love a great marble counter top, but sometimes the colors will just not match what you are going for so take a look at the tiles too.  But please, please, please do not add rug to the bathroom.  I have seen a few of these and they did not turn out well after a few weeks.

What ever your dream bathroom is makes sure you find the right contractor.  This is your dream bathroom and the person who you are working with should be able to make your dream come to life.

How to Make your Home Inviting to Every Guest that Comes Over

Everyone likes to think that their home is inviting. If you feel as though your home could be warmer, or more welcoming then you have come to the right place. Here you can find out if there is anything that you can do to make your home more suited to entertaining guests, while also making sure that you are making the right changes.

Let your Front Door Set the Tone

Never underestimate the inviting power that comes with curb appeal. Winter is tough, but that being said, you still need to make sure that you keep up with everything. You need to clean your front door, sweep up and also shakedown your welcome mat. It’s helpful for you to add a friendly and welcoming sign that says “hello” as well. If you want to create some welcoming vibes, then put a big green plant at the side of your front door. Guests will then get an eyeful of life as soon as you open the door. This is a fantastic way for you to make sure that your home is truly welcoming.

Use Color and Design Tricks

Consider your guest’s first view of your space and then pay special attention to this. Adding fun artwork or lighting is a great way for you to try and capture their attention. This will literally pull people into your home if you put it across the front door. It will also help them to want to stay awhile and explore what other fun elements your home has to offer. Things like this are ideal if you want to make sure that your home is the most welcoming that it can be.

Have an Easy Seating Arrangement

You may not mind moving a chair out of the way to get to the dining table, but your guests probably won’t feel the same way. Smaller homes are notorious for things like this, so you have to make sure that you are putting in the work to avoid this if possible. Never squish something that is oversized into a room and also don’t put tons of things on the floor either, as this will make it very difficult for your guests to move throughout your home. If you have kids, then you may want to try and make sure that you invest in some storage bins. When you do, you can then make sure that everything is put away and that everything has its place. This is a fantastic way for you to make sure that your home is not being overwhelmed with clutter. Remember that you can also invest in storage bins for your own personal items too, so make sure that you keep that in mind if you can.

Go Overboard with Houseplants

This is very self-explanatory. Lots of plants are ideal if you want to breathe some life into your space. On top of this, they make it feel incredibly welcoming. If you are no good at taking care of plants or if you continually forget to water them then you have nothing to worry about. It’s very easy for you to buy house plants that require very little maintenance, and this is a great way for you to ensure that your space feels brighter, bigger and more welcoming. If you are not quite sure where to place your houseplants then look into your alcoves, on top of your sideboard and even in the bathroom. This will help you to add an element of life to your home and it will work wonders for your decoration.

Soft Textiles

This might be obvious, but it is also the most effective. Make sure that you opt for plush rugs and also try and invest in layers for your sofa. Floor pillows and ottomans are ideal, not to mention that you can also frame textiles for wall art if you want.

Soften any Harsh Lines

Straight and harsh lines, even those that are on very firm upholstery, can look seriously unpleasant. They can also work against you if you want to create an inviting space. You can try and incorporate round rugs if you want, not to mention that you can invest in round pillows. If you want to try something different then take a soft blanket and throw it over a corner so that you can break up any lines. Believe it or not, this will help you to really make your home more welcoming.

Personalize

If you have a lot of furniture, then you need to try and personalize it if possible. Take your dining chairs and reupholster them with some fun fabric. This will help you to stop your home from looking like something out of a magazine and it will make it look way more welcoming. The more you can do to add your sparkling personality to your home, the more you will make it easier for people to feel right at home so keep that in mind if you can. If you have outdoor furniture then painting it in a fun and bright color is a very good thing to do, so keep that in mind if possible. If you haven’t gotten any outdoor furniture yet, then check out this guide if you want tips for choosing the best outdoor wicker furniture.

Design Details Matter

Ideally, you need to try and create a space that feels like you. You need something that is full of detail, regardless of how tiny they are. This will make your space feel full and it will feel like your guests are getting a stylish hug.  If you don’t know how to incorporate small details, then try and get some whimsical coasters for your coffee table. You might also want to get a book for your table as well. This will help you to add pops of color to your space and again, it will help you to bring everything together.

Have some Great Smells

If you can’t have any great smells, then at least make sure that you do not have any bad smells. If you can, try and take note of the smell of your home when you come home from work. What hits your nose as soon as you walk in through the door? If you notice that it isn’t too pleasant, then make sure that you get rid of the odor. You might also want to invest in a fragrant plant if you can, as this will add to your home, and it will also make it smell way better too.

Clear your Clutter

Nobody wants to have to push aside tons of clutter just so that they can sit on the sofa. This is not fun for anyone who lives there either. If you can, you need to do your bit to try and create a clean space for your guests. If you can do this, then you know that they will feel both invited and welcome. If you don’t know where to put your clutter then remember, it’s very easy for you to invest in some storage boxes, so you can eliminate a lot of the issues that come with having too much stuff around the house.

A Nice Temperature

Keep your home at a very nice temperature at all times. At the end of the day, it’s never fun for you to visit someone’s home if it is just too hot or too cold. You need to keep your guests in mind if you want to make them comfortable. If you look at the standard setting on your thermostat, this is probably the average temperature people like. If you like your home to be a little warmer then there’s nothing wrong with this, but you do have to make sure that you accommodate the temperature to your guests and their preferences when you have visitors.

Designated Places for Coats and Shoes

You have to designate somewhere for coats and shoes if you can. The great thing about doing this is that it will help your home to appear way more organized and it will also help it to look cleaner too. This is very helpful for guests as they will not feel as though their belongings are in the way or even cluttering up your home. If you are not quite sure how to make room for your guests and their items, then consider investing in a coat rack and also make sure that you have a shoe storage bin. This will help to keep any mud off your carpet, and it will make things easier for them too.

Hang a Wreath for the Upcoming Season

There’s something nice about having a wreath at your front door. It will make your property look so much more welcoming and it is also a very easy way for you to add some instant seasonal cheer to your home. If you aren’t sure which style of wreath to go for, try and follow the general décor and style of your home.
