Spies In Disguise Movie Review

We got Spies In Disguise free in exchange for an honest review all opinions are my own.

Weird What Wrong With Weird. The World Needs Weird

This is my new life moto.  Well lets be honest I have been living with this moto for many years.  We love Will Smith and Tom Holland and they were both amazing in Spies in Disguise.

What happens when you are the worlds best spy ( Lance Sterling) and you get framed?  You look for help and that’s just what he did when he goes to an inventor that he just fired (Walter).  Not knowing Lance takes a potion to disguise him self and found out he was going to need more help from Walter then he thought.

When they start to work together they realize that they might have a little more in common then they thought.  With a little luck on their side and their bird friends they might just save the day.  By the way I love Lovey and want her.

Ok all I just finished the movie and I am in aww.  This is one of the best cartoons I have seen in awhile.  besides an awesome cast it was funny, cute and fun.  If you are looking for your next family Movie night movie this is it.  I Love that it shows that even us weird people can make a difference in life and we can all get along if we just take a minute to see things from the other side.

What to Do When You Want to Downsize Your Stuff

When you decide to downsize your belongings, you don’t want to make your decisions about what goes or what stays lightly. You don’t want to regret getting rid of something. It might not be replaceable or you might not have the money to replace it. As a result, it’s better to regret not giving something away because you always can later. As a result, if you’re ambivalent about giving something away, it might be best to wait. This is where a Colorado Springs storage unit can come in so handy. Store what you don’t have room for and decide later what you want to keep.

Here are a few other useful tips for getting rid of your belongings:

  • You will likely have to make some sacrifices or adaptation. For example, if there is some kiddie artwork that your kids don’t want anymore, you can decide whether to recycle it or make an album out of it. Something as precious as family heirlooms may be tougher though if, for example, your mother was into costume jewelry and you’re not. You can either give them to a loved one, donate, or sell them.
  • Remember that you can back up your family or valuable photos thanks to the digital age. Before this was the case, personal photos were irreplaceable and every attempt was made to keep them around until the person died. If they happened to be thrown away or destroyed, that was the end of it. Today, that’s only so if you don’t back them up. If you want to get rid of the hard copies, you can scan and save them over and over again.
  • If your cell phone or computer has quit on you and the latter is not worth attempting to resell, you can recycle them. There are several organizations such as Cell Phones for Soldiers or domestic violence organizations that take old cell phones. Best Buy can help you get rid of your old computers.
  • If you live in a house or know someone who does and is okay with it, you can have a garage or yard sale. However, garage and yard sales are usually favorable during the warmer seasons. If a garage or yard sale is not an option for you, you can donate to a thrift store like Goodwill, a homeless organization, or even an organization for homeless pets.
  • You can also sell on sites like Craigslist, eBay, or Amazon. Be especially cautious with Craigslist as it’s full of a lot of scams these days. You can also watch Facebook sell and trade groups and see if that could be an option for you.
  • If you have hardcopy books that you no longer want, you can sell them to a store like Half Price Books, donate them to a library, a school, a thrift store, or to soldiers.
  • If you have clothes that no longer fit you or are no longer your style, you can donate them to thrift stores or to bins such as Big Brothers Big Sisters or Planet Aide. If they’re old or beyond repair and you’re not into remaking them, instead of sending them to the landfill, you can recycle them in a bin specifically designed to take old and rundown clothes.
  • Finally, if you have some furniture to get rid of, you can donate it to a used furniture store or to an organization like Habitat for Humanity.

Getting rid of stuff can feel like a relief and can be a motivator for living a more fit life. When it comes to what to keep and not to keep, the only one you’re competing against is yourself and maybe your family. If you just have a roommate, chances are they probably won’t care as much though. You can always offer what you’re giving away to them.

Getting rid of unwanted items is probably going to involve a lot of clean up and a process that will last for at least a day or two. However, the end result will be well worth it. It may even mean the difference between preserving your and your home’s health.

How to Avoid These 9 Homeschool Science Mistakes

This post is sponsored by College Prep Science. Copyright 2020 by Greg Landry.

A lot of people that Home school atone time or another wonder what they can be doing more.  What is what they are not doing is costing them.  When it comes to Home Schooling there are many ways to go about it but I love when i can get a little help from someone who knows.  I do not Home School my self but I do a lot of at home teaching for little one and I love that this can get us a step ahead.

Having taught science to several thousand homeschooling and college students over the past 20+ years, several things stand out to me. I’ve put together a list of 9 homeschool science mistakes and 9 concrete steps we can take to better prepare our budding scientists.

Mistake #1 – Generalizing the names for, and thus the way we teach, science. Call it Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc. and not “General Science”, “Physical Science”, etc., even in the young grades. Doing this virtually eliminates the intimidation that comes with “Physics” etc. in the high school years and clarifies what you’re teaching in the middle grades.

For example, at College Prep Science, rather than a homeschool year of “Physical Science,” we teach a semester of “Pre-Physics” and a semester of “Pre-Chemistry.” Rather than a homeschool year of “Life Science,” we teach a semester of “Pre-Biology” and a semester of “Pre-Anatomy and Physiology.”

Mistake #2 – Not doing enough testing.

Testing in the sciences prepares our students for the rigors of high school level homeschool science, college science, standardized testing, and assures that they are learning the material and how to take tests. Of course, it should be age-appropriate, but we should be testing.

Mistake #3 – Teaching science year-round.

I know that many parents are proponents of year-round school (no summer break), but I believe it’s actually counter-productive. From experience with thousands of students, I believe that students need to know they can work hard for a prescribed period of time and then have a total break from classes for a while.

Mistake #4 – Not starting the high school sciences early enough.

I know it’s easy to put off starting the high school sciences, but it’s important, especially if the students may be a college science major. Critical decisions should be made going into 8th grade. The critical factor is being ready for standardized testing and being able to fit in the needed sciences in the high school years. High school Biology should be taken in the 9th grade for most students and in the 8th grade for very capable students who will likely be science majors.

Mistake #5 – Not beginning to take the ACT early enough.

Success on this standardized test is critical for college admissions and plays a direct role in how much financial aid a student will receive. Taking these tests twice per year beginning in 9th grade gives students experience and confidence which enables them to do well when they take this test for the final time in 11th or 12th grade. See my article on this topic, “6 Reasons to Ditch the SAT and Laser Focus on the ACT.”

Mistake #6 – Not training students to write good lab reports.

As a college professor, I saw the pain of students who came in as science majors without good lab report writing skills and experience. Students get better at this with experience – there’s no substitute for that. Lab reports are simply the written record of the scientific method. It takes lots of practice to develop the skill needed to do well on these.

Mistake #7 – Not creating a lab manual for every science class.

A lab manual is a collection of observations, data collection, and lab reports from a class. This gives students one place to neatly keep all of this information and gives them a sense of accomplishment. It’s impressive to have them lined-up on a shelf from all of their science classes. It’s also required by some states or umbrella groups for homeschoolers and some colleges want to see lab manuals as evidence of labs being completed.

Mistake #8 – Being squeamish on Creation.

Despite what you may hear in the media and elsewhere, God wrote the book on science. We need to boldly teach our students about God’s creation. Science and the world around us support biblical creation.

Mistake #9 – Not using graphing extensively.

Graphing, when done regularly through the middle and high school grades has a unique ability to develop critical thinking skills in students that not only benefit them in math, science, and academics in general, but also in life! We encourage families to have students construct one graph daily as part of their homeschooling day. They can graph anything. Let them run with it and you will be surprised at how creative they are. The resulting skills can be very beneficial.

DRAGONHEART: VENGEANCE Available on Blu-ray and DVD

We got Dragonheart: Vengeance free in exchange for an honest review. This movie will be coming soon to Netflix

I was so excited to watch DRAGONHEART  Vengeance  when it came.   Give me a great Dragon movie any time and I know I will love it.  With the 7 Dragoons free they each went to an area to protect it.  One Dragon was cast out and it look to me like this area could have used a Dragon to protect it.  When a young man Luckas famliy was killed he sets off to get vengeance.

Lukas was not going to let this just go,  When a few people and maybe a flying friend join him in his adventure it gets epic.  When Lukas finally finds Siveth he discovers that she can talk and she might just be what he needs on this mission on vengeance.  He also finds Darius a man who is willing to fight by his side.

These two become the most important people in Luckas life and he will have to soon pick between the two and between Vengeance and Justice.  It becomes clear that his two new friends have a lot in common and very little in common.

This is an unlikely group that came together to help the greater good and found an even bigger evil in the process.

This movie has the perfect amount of mystic, comedy, adventure and vengeance.  I was sucked in from the first minute and sad it was over so fast.

Motor accidents: looking after your kids

No parent wants to hear that their child has been involved in a motor accident. Whether they were with you, with a friend or relative or on a school bus (yes, school bus accidents happen), you will feel incredibly worried and distressed. You will immediately want to know if your child has any injuries and whether you need to seek legal representation. As parents, it’s important that we create a good impression for our children, and this means responding to the accident in the correct way. So, what can you do to look after your child after a motor accident?

Stay calm

Immediately after you’ve heard about the accident, you may feel a sense of panic. This is totally natural, as you will want to know that your child is OK. But it’s important to stay calm. It won’t help your child if you are stressed and scared – they need you to look after them and reassure them, especially if they are in a state of shock. So, once they’re home, it might help to try to relax them by putting on a film or television series they like, making them a meal or running them a bath. If you are calm, they will be too.

See a doctor

If your child has serious injuries, they will most likely have already been taken to the emergency room. However, if the motor accident wasn’t severe, you may still wish to get your child checked out by a medical professional. Sometimes injuries can appear several days later, and children are much more susceptible to broken bones than adults. But, on the plus side, they bounce back quicker than we do – so even though it will be distressing to see your child injured, they are more likely to make a full, speedy recovery. Whatever the situation, it’s important to make sure that you get your child checked out, just for peace of mind.

Get a lawyer

If your child was injured in the accident, you may wish to think about getting legal representation. A lawyer will be able to represent your child if the case goes to trial, and therefore it’s important to make sure you choose a lawyer you trust. To do so, make sure you meet with several lawyers face to face and ask the right questions. You will get a gut feeling about who is right and who you trust to represent your child.

Therapy

Many children will feel shaken up after a motor accident. It’s a distressing thing to happen to anyone, and children are emotionally fragile. If your child shows signs of anxiety or stress following the accident, you may wish to consider getting them to speak to a therapist. Child therapists are trained in the art of communicating with children, and will be able to establish a good, trusting relationship. Your child will be able to vocalise their thoughts and have an outlet for their anxiety after the trauma.

Dark Waters DVD Review

We got Dark Waters Free in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Its funny I really felt the first few minutes of this movie.  I grew up in a small town so we are the same no matter what you grew up to be when a man comes up to you and says your grandma sent me you help them.  It might take a few minutes to realize what you should do but when grandma sends them you help.

This is a small town when a big company buys land and starts dumping Chemicals in the dump cattle start getting sick and dying.  He starts to wonder why and looks into it even though its the company that his company knows.  When he looks into it more he witnesses what is going on and begins to realize there is a cover up.

The Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh® DARK WATERS is one of the most important films of the year and stars Academy Award® Nominee Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: End Game, Spotlight), as the tenacious attorney who uncovers a dark secret that connects a growing number of unexplained deaths to one of the world’s largest corporations. In the process, he risks everything – his future, his family, and his own life – to expose the truth. Ruffalo is accompanied by outstanding performances from the critically acclaimed supporting cast including Anne Hathaway (Interstellar, Les Misérables), Tim Robbins (War of the WorldsThe Shawshank Redemption) Bill Pullman (The Equalizer 2, TV’s “The Sinner”) and Bill Camp (12 Years a SlaveJoker) in this gripping thriller. With a script by Mario Correa and Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z), based on the New York Times Magazine article “The Lawyer Who Became DuPont’s Worst Nightmare” by Nathaniel Rich, and produced by Ruffalo, Pamela Koffler (One Hour Photo) and Christine Vachon (Carol), with executive producers Jeff Skoll (The Help, Lincoln), Jonathan King (Lincoln), Robert Kessel (Wonder) and Michael Sledd (I, Tonya, The Founder, Dallas Buyers Club), DARK WATERS is a powerful drama-thriller that everyone needs to see.

Frozen 2 DVD review

We got Frozen 2 DVD free in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions are my own

OMG I can not tell you how excited my little guy was for this to come out.  He asked everyday if it was here yet.  The Frozen legacy continued and it was totally worth the wait.

We are finally going to get all out questions answered.  Why did Elsa get powers?  What happened to their parents?  Who were their parents?  How is Olaf still here?  There are so many questions and Frozen 2 answered all of them.

We start off the girls are younger and their parents are telling them a story.  When things from the story like mysterious voices start to happen to Elsa the story really starts.  Everyone is pushed out of the Castle and they must go see what is going on and how they can fix it.

They get to meet a lot of new friends in this movie that I am in love with and they get all their questions answered.  Will they save the castle?  Will they save each other?  There are a few parts that had me in tears so be ready with the tissue and to cheer for your favorite Frozen hero.

A Guide to Getting a Pet for Your Kid

Getting a pet is one of the highlights of most childhoods, with many kids spending their days longing for a furry friend to call their own. If you have finally given in to the endless nagging and not-so-subtle hints, you may feel overwhelmed with where to start when it comes to choosing a pet for your kid. Pet ownership should not be undertaken lightly, and here is a guide to the most significant considerations which you need to think about before committing to taking on a new member of the family.

What type of animal is perfect for children?

If this is going to be your child’s first pet, you should consider opting for smaller animals, such as hamsters, mice, and guinea pigs. These are traditional starter pets, and, while they still need care and attention, they require much lower maintenance than animals such as dogs and cats. This means that your child can experience the pleasure of having a pet for the first time while understanding the commitment that a pet requires. This can prepare them for the ownership of larger and more demanding animals in the future.

However, if your kid is nagging you for a more interactive pet, the traditional choice of pet for families is a dog. Dogs may be high maintenance, but they can act as furry friends to your kids, giving them affection in return for the time that they demand. Not only can they be taken everywhere with you, but they can also encourage your family to get out and about and exercise regularly.

How can you maintain your pet’s health?

When you have decided on a pet for your child, you must research how best to maintain their health. As well as providing them with the appropriate care, it is essential to sign them up with a veterinarian, such as those at heartandpaw.com. They can ensure that your animal’s health remains high by providing them with regular check-ups, vaccinations, and flea treatments. Not only this but if your pet becomes ill, they can help to return them to full health in no time at all.

How much does a pet cost?

Throughout its lifetime, the average dog will cost you $42,000. Although this is spread over a ten to fifteen-year period, the extensive vet bills, food, holiday care, and entertainment that you need to provide for them can add up to over $50 a month. If you are looking at owning a cat, the total is slightly less, with estimates coming in at over $1,000 for their first year. This is something that you need to take into consideration if you have multiple pets or if you are unsure what your financial situation will look like in the future.

Should you adopt a pet?

When you are considering getting a pet for your child, you should weigh the benefits of adopting a pet from a shelter or charity. Not only will you be helping animals in need, but you will also be helping to reduce the number of strays in America, with there being around 70 million homeless animals in the USA. However, dogs and cats cannot always be adopted by families with young children due to their individual needs, such as that of a quiet home, and so you should speak to the shelter in question about your requirements before you make a decision.
