I had no idea what this great kid’s movie was when I got the chance to review it.  When I saw that it was Co-Created by Gwen Stefani I knew it had to be awesome.  My son loves movie with music he can dance to.  When it’s a cartoon that also keeps his attention in between dancing it’s even better.  This is a great cartoon about 5 girls who are in a band, but right before they are about to preform something crazy always happens.  I love that the cartoon is not only written well but the graphics are so cute.  If you have a little one that loves music and adventure this is a great DVD to add to your collection.

Los Angeles, CA – Superstar Gwen Stefani’s animated series KUU KUU HARAJUKU will be coming to DVD in North America from Shout! Factory in collaboration with DHX Media. The first installment, KUU KUU HARAJUKU: MUSIC, BABY!, contains 14 episodes from Season Oneand will be available on DVD on June 13th 2017. Initial shipments of the DVD contain a code to download the KUU KUU HARAJUKU theme song (while supplies last). KUU KUU HARAJUKU: MUSIC, BABY! is available now for pre-order at Amazon.com and ShoutFactory.com. The 2D-animated series currently airs on Nickelodeon in the U.S. and on Family Channel in Canada.

 

The animated series KUU KUU HARAJUKU follows the fun-filled adventures of the band HJ5 – Love, Angel, Music, Baby and G – through their super kawaii (cute) world of music, fashion and style. The inspiration for this popular animated series came from Grammy® Award-winning musician Stefani who wanted to create an animated series for girls that encourages and celebrates creative self-expression, imagination and individuality.  The show’s setting is inspired by the exuberant street fashion and creative youth culture of the Harajuku district but it takes place in a magical fantasy world like nothing you’ve ever seen before. 

 

G is the lead singer of HJ5. She’s a natural leader and an amazing friend. She’s positive and enthusiastic, and fond of saying “Tick tock, time to rock!” Love is a fashionista, a great dancer, and cute as a button. She’s also a genius who often saves the day with her inventions. Angel is super chic, fun and enthusiastic. This fashionista has 325 pairs of shoes, and even her accessories have accessories! Music has a tough girl attitude, and is brutally honest. She brings a hint of edge and attitude to the group, and is fiercely protective of her friends. Baby sees the kawaii in all things: babies, puppies, rattlesnakes… She sees the good in everything, and also knows how to take care of herself. As G says, “Baby can charm the fire out of a dragon.”

 

Then, there is Rudie Rhodes, HJ5’s well-meaning but semi-incompetent manager. He books the band on all sorts of gigs, and they are happy to play anywhere, but dealing with villains, aliens and general Harajuku weirdness makes it impossible for them to ever finish a concert!

 

KUU KUU HARAJUKU is co-created and produced by Moody Street Kids (Australia), Vision Animation (Malaysia) and Gwen Stefani and commissioned by Network Ten with investment funding from Film Victoria (Australia) and MyCreative Ventures (Malaysia). DHX Media handles international distribution for the series, and licensed the series to Shout! Factory.

We love a great family game night at our house.  Finding the right games for the whole family can be hard.  With Winning Moves, they have a great selection for the whole family.  I have always found great games to play with our little one and great games for the adults after he goes to sleep.  I love that they also have original games.  I have found games here that I have never seen before.

They also have a great selection of games that are not only fun, but will also help your little one learn.  There is nothing like having fun while learning with your little one.  One of our favorite this time is the Rubik’s Bear.  Can you believe how cute he is?   The Rubik’s bear is also a great fidget toy for not only my little one but also me. He is cute and keeps your mind and head busy. This is a whole new twist on an old favorite.   The Game Of States was one of those great learning ones.  We had a blast playing it and little guy was learning as we played.

Nibbled is a great game for my little one.  It is not only fun to play but no reading required.  I love playing all games with him, but let’s be honest after a while I don’t want to read everything to him.  Sometimes things are just for fun and don’t have to be a learning experience.   Sunk was a game for kids that are 10 and older, but even little guy had a blast playing.  I also want to throw out there if you are without kids for the night and hanging out with a few friends having a few drinks this game could not be more fun.  It had different was to drip the water in and after a few drinks it just gets hilarious.

Swapping indoor workouts for outdoor #Switch2BODYARMOR

It’s that time of year.  Its warming up and if you are anything like me you are ready to get outside.  For most of the winter my workouts are inside, it’s way too cold to be outside.  Now that its warming up I am swapping indoor workouts for outdoor.  I have always found outside workouts so much more fun than stuck inside. Don’t get me wrong I still like working out inside, but when I’m inside it feels more like a workout.  When I am outside it feels more like fun.  I love the smell of fresh air and the feel of the sun on my face.

Our winters are cold and snowy here in Colorado.  When spring finally hits it’s a whole new world for me.

A few good ways to swap indoors to outdoors

  1. Inside I would be riding a stationary bike, Now I can go on a bike ride through the woods.
  2. Instead of walking around the house I can go on a hike or go fishing.
  3. walking to the mail box ever day to get mail. Does not seem like much but I really feel accomplished when I do this every day.
  4. Walking to the store daily to get what I need to cook for the day. There is nothing like walking to the store for fresh vegetables and meat every day.
  5. Start gardening, not only will the outside of your house look better but it’s a great workout.
  6. A walk on the beach or in the sand is not only a great workout, but also easy on the knees.

 

With the warmer weather, there are also a few more precautions to take.

Get outside have some fun and when you are done, don’t forget to relax a little.

Woo Hoo it’s that awesome time of the month where I get to try get new beauty products.  I love when my Adore Box comes.  For less than the price of one item I get to try a few items every month.  I have fell in love with so many new brands.  If you are a beauty lover and are on a budget like I am, Adore Box is so the way to go.

As most of you know when I say I have a picky eater in the house, my son brings it to a whole new level.  There are only about 3 things he will actually eat.  So, when I can find something new he loves, I have just made my month.   When I got the chance to try out Galassi Pasta Sauce (Sweet Tomato and Basil) I was excited for me and hubby, but little did I know that my son would go nuts for it.

Like normal I made our spaghetti and offered some to little guy.  Normally he would not even consider it after smelling what I put on his plate he said yummy and continued to eat the whole bowl.  This is a first for us I was so excited we have now added a fourth thing that my son will eat.

Galassi is non-GMO and tastes delicious.  I love that it makes a great dinner so fast, just cook noodles add the sauce and you are done.  You have a great tasting meals in just a few minutes.  For all us parents that are running around all day this is perfect.  When we get home late at night it is so easy to just order in or go for fast food.  Now we can come home just make some noodles and have our Pasta sauce ready to just pour in.  It’s a great home-cooked meal ready in a jar.

Go Direct for Better Paragraphs

In fifth grade, students are asked to write a variety of paragraphs, but often aren’t sure how to structure the sentences within them. They know what they want to say, but may need help putting it in order. “Transition words” are tools that will help your fifth grader align his sentences and improve the overall flow of his paragraphs. If your child’s paragraphs need to transition from out-of-order to organized and smooth, try this simple, real-life activity.

What You Need:

  • Paper/pencil
  • Red marker

What You Do:

  1. Begin by asking your child about his favorite local destination spot. For example, maybe he has a favorite restaurant, arcade, gym or mall. Next, tell him you will take him to that favorite spot if he will write the driving directions for you. Tell him he will get to practice an important writing skill and get a reward when he’s finished.
  2. Ask your child to say the directions aloud first and write them in a short list. For example, go left on Washington Street, drive for two miles, turn right on Jefferson Avenue. At the third light, turn left into the mall.
  3. Show your child common transition words used to structure paragraphs and make them flow smoothly. Some examples of transitions are “first,” “next,” “then,” “also,” “in addition,” and “finally.” Ask your child to write the directions in paragraph form, but use a transition word before each sentence. Guide your fifth grader through the process and have him use a red pen or marker to write the transitions. When he’s finished, ask him to read it out loud to check for errors and to make sure it sounds smooth.
  4. Get your keys and head out to your fifth grader’s favorite destination. You’ll get to spend time with your child knowing the real reward will be better paragraphs!

Extension: Continually ask your child to give you verbal directions using transition words. The more they practice using transitions, the more automatic sentence order will become.
