There’s No Such Thing As Fitness Motivation

How many times have you set up a fantastic fitness plan and how many have you failed? The plan was perfect. It combined cardio and strength training to keep yourself fit, lean, and strong. You still remember starting on your fitness journey. The first day was tough but you were excited to try something new. The second day was challenging, but you managed to push yourself. But on the third day, you found excuses.

I’m too sore.

It’s too late.

I’ll do more tomorrow.

And one excuse to the other, you abandoned the fitness plan. You’re probably thinking that you lack motivation. You would be right. But that doesn’t mean you should blame yourself. Most of us assume that motivation is something we need to magically make appear in our lives. Motivation requires discipline, accessibility, and convenience, otherwise, it can disappear at the first hassle. In other words, you can’t just wake up one morning and hope to be motivated enough to transform your fitness regime. You have to make room for motivation to arise and stay.

Make it relevant

The first and most harmful thing you can do to your motivation is to create a fitness program that requires a lot of effort to implement. Picture the scene. You’ve registered for an early fitness class at the local gym, hoping to burn some calories before heading to the office. But after a couple of days, you’ll soon spot the issues in the plan. You’re not an early riser and that makes you cranky all day long.

The bottom line? You haven’t integrated your fitness plan naturally into your lifestyle. It can be a lot more effective to find time in your day for exercises that fit within your routine, such as a yoga workout to help you wake up. You can follow an online class from your lounge, waking up gently before your day at work. This could be a better option for you, rather than imposing choices that don’t match your personality.

Make it convenient

Why head to a gym studio when you plan a workout at home? Gentle, bodyweight activities can be done in your living room, for instance, or in a spare room. If you’ve got a basement or a garage, it’s a good idea to keep your gym equipment there. You can spruce up the place with a safe garage door installation and a fresh coat of paint, for instance. You can also add insulation to make your home gym more comfortable.

Start small and progress

There’s no point starting with high intensity and high calories-burning activities. You won’t be able to remain consistent in the long term. When it comes to creating a fitness routine, you want to focus on consistency, aka being able to work out often. Therefore, it’s easier to set simple goals at first, such as running a couple of miles. You can gradually add to your workout as your fitness levels improve.

You don’t need motivation when you can turn your fitness plan into a habit that seamlessly integrates into your lifestyle. Remember: You’re your best cheerleader and your worst enemy. Therefore, make your fitness routine sustainable, otherwise, you are likely going to find an excuse to skip it!

Mama, When Was The Last Time You Put Yourself First?

There is an expectation on mothers when it comes to parenthood. They are expected to take the time to do the house, manage the kids with their physical and emotional needs, attend their job and do well at it and be excellent partners, too. That’s a long list of things that mothers are required to do, and there’s nothing in that list that says to take a moment and look after themselves. This is because while there are so many expectations on mothers, they just don’t take the time to say no to anyone else. The stress that comes with the responsibilities of motherhood are not solved with a bubble bath, because bubble baths are not self-care – it’s basic hygiene.

It’s obvious to most mothers that the reason that they don’t take any time for themselves is because they really dont have the time to spare to think of themselves first. It’s why the last time a mother has had a dental appointment is when her child has theirs. It’s why they miss their eye exam despite the headaches that are plaguing their day to day lives. A mother does not stop, and we are raised to think that other people should come first – which just enforces the fact that self-care is on the back burner. So, Mama, when was the last time that you remembered to put you first? There are so many things that we are getting wrong as parents, and the first thing is that we tell ourselves things to feel better about the fact we don’t look after ourselves properly. Below, we’ve put together a list of common things that hold us back from putting ourselves first for a change.

“Time For You? That’s Selfish”

Oh, if you’re a mother, you’ve heard this one! Self-care such as spa days and time away from the family for personal enjoyment? That’s considered selfish. There’s this rotten notion that a mother is supposed to sacrifice everything to her bones for her children, and we do that every single day. Taking a moment to remember that you are a person and you were always a person first is important. The least selfish thing that you can do is take a moment to look after yourself. It’s the antidote you need to relieve stress and it enables you to be more resilient against the toughest days.

Hidden Superheroes

A mother is a superhero – and no one sees it until she stops being one. A mother will sacrifice her happiness for those around her because she’s so busy trying to save everyone else that she forgets herself in the process. We rescue others because we confuse it with being caring – and we forget to rescue ourselves. The moment we realize that we need help is the moment of no return: the burnout is so real and the physical and emotional toll is too much. That’s the minute we see that there is a problem and we need help. The kids need to learn their lessons and our partners need to take charge. It’s okay not to rescue everyone and do everything. Yes, you are a caring person, but caring is not always the right thing to do for you.

We Need to Be Needed

A mother needs to feel needed because it’s so ingrained in us that our worth is based on who needs us. We do what we can for those who need us and this leads to our own needs going by the wayside. Mothers are like jigsaw puzzles: they give a piece of themselves to everyone else whenever they do something for them, but no one is filling up that puzzle piece. It becomes a missing piece and too many missing pieces leads to emptiness and a yearning for something more. Instead of spending every hour looking after someone else, we need to look in the mirror and figure out what pieces we need. Time spent focused on ourselves is vital to our future health.

Mother’s Don’t Ask For Help

How long have you dealt with headaches and not asked anyone for help? Mother’s usually follow the “put up and shut up” route because someone else needs something, so they handle the toothache until it gets to the point of unbearable. They miss out on the eye exam that could be preventative. Mother’s don’t ask for help because they’re too busy helping elsewhere – and this is not okay, Mama! You need to ask for help and have the health appointments and hold the hand of someone else for a while. It’s okay to lean on others the way in which you are leaned on.

Mother’s Are Blind To Poor Treatment

The more a mother puts out signals that she will rescue a person, the more people will rely on her to rescue them. They will sacrifice themselves to help, and this can lead to others taking advantage of them. It’s not a balanced relationship for a mother, and it’s something that continues to be difficult. What mother will say no to helping someone else? And yet she will say no to helping herself – do you see the problem. You have to ask yourself whether others have taken it from you, or you have given yourself to others but forgot to give yourself to – well, you.

Mothers Don’t Realize Their Worth

We do. Mothers know exactly how much they are worth – but we think others are worth more, and this is often what stops a mother from putting herself first at least once a month! Self-love is lacking in a mother as she feels she owes everyone else time and energy. Sometimes, we’re so busy listening to the voices of others asking for things from us that we don’t listen to our own voices.

Mama, it’s about time you put your health, your sleep, your hunger and your happiness first. Take a moment to ask: what do I want? And take it from there.

8 Approaches To Stimulate Learning In Children

Watching your young children just picking up a book to learn without being told can be such a heart-warming experience. Although the individual personality of a child will indeed play a significant role in their inclination to learn and general outlook on education and schooling, stimulating learning at a young age can serve as a catalyst. Here are some approaches you can adopt to foster learning in your child.

Make reading interesting

Reading is the basis of learning. And while teaching your child to read is the first step, making it attractive is the next step. Once you make reading enjoyable, they will always look forward to reading, and through that, they will learn something new. Reading does not only help children expand their vocabulary, but it also aids the brain to learn the basics of processing concepts. The knowledge that is acquired via reading goes beyond just the books they read. Make reading fun and interesting so that it doesn’t feel like a chore or frustrating. The latter will diminish their interest and then limit their ability. Allow the child to select the kind of books that they like, just to increase their appeal. Then you can draw up a plan to include their school books to balance it out.

Communication is key

Having open and honest communication with your child is a great way to have them express their opinion. This creates an environment where concerns, likes, and dislikes can be aired and discussed. Sharing such thoughts can shed light on certain things that will be valuable and will improve the approach or learning environment.

Do not monopolize learning

Doing something over and over again can make it stale and uninteresting. Fortunately, there are several kinds of learning styles that you can adopt and even blend to make learning fun. All children have preferred learning techniques, and that may be termed as their dominant learning style. Using a blend of learning styles will quickly help point out their dominant learning style, and you can then focus on that dominant style to improve and quicken their learning. ABA therapy is a proven way to enhance learning and cognitive functions in children using the seven basic learning styles. These are Visual, Auditory, Verbal, Physical, Logical, Social, and Solitary.

Focus on learning, not performance

One of the significant reasons children lose interest in learning is the pressure from parents to see them excel. Wanting your child to do well is not wrong, but sometimes parents skip the process. You should focus more on the learning process than the performance. If the learning process is stable, it will yield the kind of performance you crave. So, let your child know that you are more interested in ensuring that they properly assimilate the learning process and do not burden them with having to show immediate results.

Keep your child organized

Helping your child to be organized is a great way to stimulate learning. Schoolwork coupled with personal interests and learning programs can get a bit overwhelming. But organizing all these into a timetable or calendar makes it less cluttered and provides a blueprint for active learning that will not lead to burnout or brain fatigue. Patience and consistency are the virtues to be extolled regarding organizing your child’s books, assignments, and papers. This will motivate the child to learn and feel in control.

Recognize and celebrate achievements or milestones

The recognition and celebration of the smallest achievements or milestones can improve your child’s confidence. For children in the early stages of education, this is particularly important as it will motivate them to continue to achieve more. Children at that stage require a lot of positive reinforcement to encourage them to do better. However, this does not mean that you should allow mediocrity.

Concentrate on strengths

Concentrating on a child’s strengths builds confidence and ensures that such positivity can be transferred to other areas that may not be as strong. This also has proven to be crucial to the emotional and academic progress and development of the child. Focusing on a weakness will do the direct opposite and will not encourage the child to learn.

Be enthusiastic

Being enthusiastic about your child and their progress can rub off them. Your passion for learning with them or providing them with the necessary tools they need for their learning can prove to be a turning point. As much as possible, try to share new information with them that will trigger their curiosity. Whatever they learn will be shared with you, which creates an incredible opportunity to bond.

Break Through The Roadblocks Stopping You From Getting Fit

Are you worried about your health? If you are a road worker, then you could be at risk of developing numerous health issues including obesity. To avoid this, you need to make sure you’re keeping fit with the right exercise routine. However, there could be a few things stopping you from working out and that you need to deal with first. Here are some of the common issues you could be facing.

Confidence Killed

It’s possible that you just don’t have the confidence that you need to work out. In particular, you might struggle with the idea of working out in front of people. If that’s the case, then you should think about ways to boost your confidence. You might, for instance, want to invest in some gorgeous new workout gear like shimmer leggings. Wear like this could make your body look incredible and give you the confidence you need.

No Time

If you’re working on the road, then it can be difficult to find the time you need to work out regularly. However, this is just a case of getting into the routine that you can fit around your schedule. For instance, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention yoga here. Yoga is the type of workout that you can complete in lots of different locations. You don’t need a lot of equipment, you just need to take your yoga mat with you. If you do this, then you’ll be able to work out whenever you are on a break.

No

Driving on the road can be exhausting and it’s possible that you just don’t have the energy you need to work out regularly. If that’s the case, then you should think about looking for ways that you can boost your energy. Part of this will be ensuring that you get the right level of sleep each night. However, you might also want to think about trying some supplements. Some fantastic supplements will be able to provide the energy boost that you need.

No Results

Finally, you might have tried working out before. If that’s the case, then it’s possible that the reason that you don’t want to work out now is that you never saw any results. This is likely because you either weren’t exercising the right way or you weren’t combining it with a great diet. Regardless of what the issue was, you can avoid it this time. We recommend that you consult with a PT. These can work remotely online to provide the expert support that you need to see rapid changes to your levels of fitness.

We hope this helps you break down the barriers that are stopping you from working out completely. As we’ve already mentioned, obesity is one of the greatest threats right now to the health of the typical trucker. By working out regularly and finding a routine that you enjoy, you can tackle this issue head-on and ensure that you do keep your health on the right track.
