How To Encourage Your Child To Learn While Doing Remote Schooling
A lot of parents are struggling with homeschooling at the moment. If you find yourself in this category, you are not alone! There are a lot of different lesson plans, tools, educational games, and such like online to assist with this. You can find science-based computer games, narrative writing prompts for 4th grade, math puzzles for older students, and much more. The Internet is home to a whole host of useful resources, and a lot of them are either free or very low in cost, so make the most of them. When children find learning fun, they do not feel like they are learning at all, and this can help to facilitate the entire process.
Give your child regular breaks. It is important to ensure that they are given the opportunity to refresh their brains. Regular breaks are something we all need to work effectively, no matter how young or old we are. If your child is sat at a desk for hours on end, their mind is naturally going to start to wander, and they will begin to focus on everything but their work! This is why you need to encourage regular breaks.
A final piece of the puzzle is to simply talk with your child. Tell them that you recognize it is very hard to do school work from home, and that you know it is a weird period for them. Find out what they are struggling with and why they are finding it difficult. You can then look for different ways to appease this so that you can come to a happy medium. Having an honest and open conversation can make all of the difference. Be sure to appreciate your child’s concerns and to take them seriously.
So there you have it: some of the different steps you can take to encourage your child to engage in education during the lockdown period. There is no denying that the past year has been difficult for both children and parents. Remote schooling is something a lot of parents and children never expected. However, it has been necessary to prevent the transmission of the virus. The important thing to remember here is to not be too hard on yourself. If you have not been able to fulfill all educational requirements, don’t panic; you’re not alone and the school will have a plan in place to catch up once kids are able to attend in person again.
