How to Give Your Child Basic First Aid

When your child is sick, you don’t want to think about who will help them. But as a parent, you must have the skills necessary in case something does happen. 

So, if you are looking for some essential first aid tips for parents, this blog post has everything from managing nosebleeds and take-out splinters to choking relief and fever management. So read on if your goal is giving your child the best start possible!

Managing Nosebleeds

First, you need to assess the situation. If their nose is bleeding and they’re breathing comfortably, then leave them alone. If it’s uncomfortable or signs of distress such as panic, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, or pale skin, call for emergency help immediately.

You can use a clean cloth to gently pinch-close one nostril (or even both) so that the blood will go down towards the mouth rather than up into the sinuses, where it could lead to an infection called epistaxis. 

If your child still has nasal passages left open, blow very hard through one nostril while blocking off the other one with fingers until pressure builds and stops bleeding; repeat on the opposite side after clearing out any clots.

 

Know CPR

It is good to invest in knowing MyCPR NOW CPR & first aid certifications in case of emergencies. To perform chest compressions: 30 chest compressions should be done in a row, followed by two rescue breaths to help keep oxygen flow going until paramedics arrive on the scene.

Chest compressions alone can sometimes save lives when no breathing happens; they will restore some blood circulation and give your child’s heart time to pump again, which may eventually get them breathing independently of CPR.

Rescue breaths; for infants aged one-month-old or younger, give two slow, gentle puffs into their nose before each set of chest compressions (just enough so that they start breathing again). Children older than one year old who have lost consciousness for less than ten minutes only do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation if there are no signs of life such as coughing, vomiting, gasping, or making noises.

Choking Relief

Choking is widespread concern for parents. Choking can happen when an object becomes lodged in the throat or windpipe, preventing air from passing through and causing a person to gasp for breath. 

Young children are at higher risk of choking because their throats and mouths are smaller than adults, making it easier for food or other objects to become stuck inside them. You must know what signs indicate your child may be choking such as coughing vigorously with fluids coming out of his mouth, wheezing without breathing, gagging but no vomit, and turning blue around the lips or face. 

When your child chokes, you need to perform the Heimlich maneuver. The best way to do this is with a nearby adult, but if no one is available, then it can be done on your own.

In conclusion, it is not enough to provide first aid. Raising a child requires compassion, understanding, and patience from both parents and children alike. The most important thing for any parent is to prepare for the unexpected to keep their family healthy and happy. Using these skills will help you handle an emergency while also reassuring that your child’s safety comes before anything else!

August 13th Los Angeles, CA – WaterTower Music has today released the Animaniacs Season 1 (Soundtrack from the Animated Series), featuring the music from the brand-new version of the iconic family-friendly cartoon franchise Animaniacs. Hulu, Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation proudly announced the series which saw its long-awaited return on Hulu late last year through 13 brand-new episodes, twenty-two years after the final episode of the original series had aired. Steven Spielberg returned as executive producer of the series, with Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, and Amblin Television Co-Presidents Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank also serving as executive producers.
The Animaniacs Season 1 (Soundtrack from the Animated Series) features music performed in the show by the Animaniacs.
The series marked the first Hulu Original Series for families.  The original Animaniacs made its television debut in 1993 and went on to become one of the most popular animated series for children. Since its premiere, the series has launched spin-offs and characters including Pinky and the Brain and has set the record for most Daytime Emmy Awards in the field of Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for any animated series, winning three times.
 ANIMANIACS is a smart update to the classic series.  The producers and artists went through a rigorous process to update the character designs and establish a visual style for their world that feels fresh and familiar at the same time.  The show is a comforting dose of nostalgia for fans of the original series with the return of  Pinky and the Brain, and other fan-favorite characters with the original voice cast. The show is a wonderful opportunity for adults and parents who were fans of the show when they were young to introduce these beloved characters to their kids.
In addition to the visual aspect of the series, the intuitive humor and sophisticated social commentary of the show retains that of the original series,  thoughtfully infuse it with modern and topical sensibilities. The music was also given a thoughtful update. For the original and soon-to-be classic musical numbers, the producers played around with current music genres as well like KPOP and EDM.
Season Two of Animaniacs debuts on Hulu on November 5.

We fell in love with Mad Mattr last year and have played with it every day.   I love that this is one of the few products that says will never dry out and it does not dry out.  We have left ours out for months I never put it away and it is just like day one.

They have a ton of great new colors and even have sets for building now.  You can make castles and more and then it goes right back to squishy fun.  If you have an autistic little one like me this is going to be a must have sensory toy.  He can mix the colors together or leave them as it and its a great calm down sensory feeling.

As most of you know I LOVE Funko.  I had a great unboxing video of this great Snapsies  and my phone lost everything.  No worries all I have a new phone now.  the only thing that saved me was I had already downloaded my pictures to the site.  Sorry no video this time but make sure to take a look at the great pictures.

This is the first Snapsies  that I have had.  It took me a few minutes to figure them out.  Once I did I was in love.  The trick to them in right in the name Snapsies.  That’s right all they mix and match and snap together.  Each ball came with blind bags so they will always be a surprise.  I love these for stocking stuffers.  No wrapping because the surprise is in the ball.

As most of you know We love every thing Harry Potter and Hogwarts.  When I saw this cookbook I knew I had to have it for my collection.  I know it says its a cookbook for kids and it really is.  Nice easy recipes to follow.  What I love it that almost everything in this cookbook I will eat.  There is also a ton of stuff I have never made.  So even though it is made for kids it is great for adults too.

Each recipe also have pictures.  So you and your kids can see the finished product and your kids will know before they start cooking that they will eat it.  I love and was truly impressed with this cookbook.

Is It Good For Your Health To Live Near The Sea

The open sea, a determining factor in being happy? If we tend to associate the sea with our happiness on vacation, it is not without reason. Calm, fine sand, exceptional sunsets, a breathtaking view, there are, there are many benefits. It is also known that on holiday, if you have accommodation with a sea view also allowed, it will offer you even better mental health? If you live near the sea, your long term mental health will be vastly improved.  Not long ago, researchers proved to us that green spaces had a direct influence on our productivity and helped lower our stress level. Because beyond a good socio-professional situation, it is our living environment that can present itself as an obstacle to our happiness. Now, it seems that the call of the sea plays even more significantly on our mood, according to a recent study conducted in collaboration between the University of Canterbury (New Zealand) and Michigan State University (USA). The sea and the ocean denotes freedom and that is why many of us now opt for a luxury home by the sea. You can find more and more luxury homes near the beach today!

 

The studies conducted in New Zealand are particularly interesting because New Zealand is full of green land and blue seas. An ideal ground therefore, to study the impact of green spaces and blue spaces on a population. In total, the study was carried out among 450 inhabitants.

So, what makes it so good?

Green belt and forests can also be good for us. Nature, the fresh air without the pollution of the city and more, can bring us physical and mental benefits. The business of a city stresses us out. Traffic, poor weather conditions and more is a breeding ground for negative thoughts.  We can’t wait to get home, and get our feet up on the couch. We reach for the poor choices of food, such as quick and easy foods. It is also said that people who live by the sea are likely to make better dietary choices. Thanks to local production, you will enjoy the benefits of

the sea even on your plate. Crustaceans, fish and molluscs are made up of a multitude of vitamins (B12 and D), calcium, not to mention iodine. Let us also think of fatty acids which make it possible to fight against bad cholesterol. Everything is here! And if you want to go further, opt for seaweed and more specifically, salicornia. Also called “sea bean”, it is an inexhaustible source of benefits: calcium, zinc, manganese, silica, phosphorus, vitamins, and iodine. Not to mention that it is an excellent diuretic. 

 

It is known that blue spaces are beneficial and especially if other factors come into play such as the sensory stimuli generated by the sound of the waves or the smell of the sea air.  It can improve the conditions of people with chronic pain or depression and anxiety. So is it time to move to the coast yet?
