Whether you have a current fitness regime in place or not, there are probably some improvements you can make to make it better than ever. Here there are 8 tips that will help you to improve yours. Enjoy!
- Write Down What You’re Doing First
Before you even think about stepping foot in a gym, write down what you’re doing first. What body part are you working out? What exercises do you intend on doing? Having an idea of what you want to do before you go in will ensure you have a good workout, rather than walking in, messing around and then going home. Writing it down always helps, even if you just do it on your notes. Click here to find some examples.
- Note Down Progress
Writing down your progress will keep you motivated and help you to stay on track each workout. Write down the weights you used, how fast you ran, how difficult you found it, and any other information that will help you during your next workout. If you can get better each workout, you know you’re winning!
- Take Pictures
Take pictures of your body regularly so you can see how it’s changing. If you want to do it properly, take a picture on the same day at the same time in the morning so you can compare. If you’re working hard all through the week, you should see visible improvements each week, even if they are only small. Pictures are much better indicators of how well you’re doing than weight.
- Pay More Attention To Rest Periods
People rest for way too long in the gym, most of the time. Sure, you may be allowed 1-2 minutes rest, but if you don’t need it then you’re wasting time. As soon as you feel ready, you should be going again. Listen to your body. At the very least, you should be keeping an eye on the clock to make sure you’re not going over your rest period.
- Stay Off Your Phone
Spending too much time on your phone researching exercises and looking for songs just takes away from your workout. You should do this before you step foot in the gym!
- Make A Motivational Playlist
Make a motivational playlist before you go to the gym so you can really work hard. Put on the songs that will inspire you to do your best. Having earphones on will usually stop others from approaching you too.
- Set Realistic Goals
Setting realistic goals is so important. Instead of saying you want to lose a certain amount of weight by a certain time, why not make your goal to consistently attend the gym and eat right 6 days of the week? Then the weight loss will come more naturally. Just make sure you don’t overwhelm yourself straight away.
- Use More Free Weights
Instead of spending all of your time on the machines, use more free weights. They are way more effective and will get you the results you’re looking for!
