A lot of us are guilty of not looking after ourselves, especially when we have families, we tend to put their needs over our own. However, we can’t pour from an empty cup, we can get burnt out, struggle to do things and also just make our mental health bad by not looking after ourselves. There are ways we can slowly incorporate healthy habits into our daily lives so they become more of a lifestyle change and something we stick to.

Eating A Better And More Varied Diet

One of the best and easiest ways to improve your health is by improving your diet. What you eat fuels your body and helps you fight off diseases and bugs that come around. if you don’t eat healthy at the moment and feel hard to start and feel like there’s a lot. You need to change all at once, however, I make a small change you can introduce healthy habits and things that are lost in your new healthy eating regime. What are the things you can do is start incorporating more fruits and vegetables into a diet if you have pancakes for breakfast for example, then you could also add fruit on top with a little honey. Pretty sure you have a different selection of vegetables with your main meals or a side salad and this will help you start to eat healthier. You could also make a change to trace a new meal each week, this will help you vary your diet, try new foods and Maybe find a new dish that you love which is good for you. You could try something like a lamb hotpot, chicken Parmesan or something like cheesy funeral potatoes.

Try To Move About More

Incorporating some exercise activities into your routine is another great method to become more healthy. No, you don’t have to go to the gym every other day for exercise or to do this. If you’re not comfortable with going out to a different class or other people you could start by just going for a fast-paced walk around your neighbourhood or can you sing one of the thousands of YouTube exercise videos which are free online. Another way to make sure that you incorporate some exercise into your routine is to do it with a friend by having an accountability buddy, you are more likely to take part in the exercise. You won’t want to let your friend down so you’re more likely to show up to the exercise class or the walk around the park or whatever it is that you’ve organised to do together. So by having someone else do it with you, you are more likely to be active and it will help your health and fitness levels in the long term.

Look After Your Mental Well-being

It isn’t always physical aspects that you need to amend to have good health. We also need to make sure that we are looking after our mental health as well. Bad mental health can manifest into things that affect our physical health, like stress, anxiety and depression causing all sorts of complications in the body. It is also one of the main elements of well-being that people forget to do. Just like with a physical illness, you need to look after the mental illnesses that you may have already suffered from certain mental health conditions. But if you don’t you can put preventative measures in place so that you don’t have them as severely. What are the things that you could do is try some simple, meditation, techniques, and mindful breathing. there are lots of mobile phone applications that have this. You can also find guided meditations on YouTube or simplified local classes in your area.

Implementation of Self Care

Self-care is a form of looking after yourself in a very individual way. Self-care means different things to different people. For example, for somebody maybe doing a bit of retail therapy I go shopping cover for The Fat. It may be having a candlelit pamper and bath to destress or it could mean going for a run to have a bit of time to yourself if you have a hectic life, so it could be a way to escape, get exercise and get your heart pumping. Self-care has become very mainstream in the media and a lot of companies are taking advantage of this and selling self-care items at ridiculous prices. To practice self-care, you don’t need to spend a lot of money, if at all. You could use the things you have in your house, it’s all about how you feel better and how you focus on your well-being.
