A Maryland pizza favorite is about to show up in two places you might not expect

Timber Pizza is planning two more Maryland restaurants, this time in Chevy Chase and Bethesda. The D.C.-born brand announced the two-unit development agreement on October 6, 2026, but it has not yet named addresses or opening dates.

Where the two new Maryland restaurants are planned

The new deal calls for one Timber Pizza location in Chevy Chase and another in Bethesda, according to the company announcement. Both communities are in Montgomery County, giving the brand a clearer path deeper into the close-in Maryland suburbs just outside Washington.

What has not been confirmed is just as important for readers tracking restaurant openings. Timber Pizza said the franchise team is still actively searching for sites and will work with the company’s development and real estate partners during that process. That means there is no announced storefront, shopping center, construction timeline, or grand opening date for either restaurant.

The operators behind the agreement are Kyle and Carolyn McDonnell, a husband-and-wife team with local ties. The company said Carolyn McDonnell grew up in nearby Kensington, and that the couple will serve communities across Montgomery County and Upper Northwest Washington.

Who is behind the expansion

Timber Pizza said the McDonnells signed the development agreement as its seventh franchise group. In the company announcement, co-founder and president Chris Brady said the brand is looking for operators who understand their neighborhoods and can help create restaurants that feel like gathering places.

The company also tied the new deal to the couple’s business background. Timber Pizza said Kyle McDonnell has experience in the hotel franchise sector and is co-owner of Old Line Golf Club in Annapolis. According to the announcement, the relationship between Timber and the McDonnells started when Timber catered the golf club’s grand opening several years ago.

For home cooks and pizza fans, the practical takeaway is simple: this is a confirmed expansion plan, not an opening notice. If you live in Chevy Chase or Bethesda, the next meaningful update will be site selection, followed by any public construction and launch details the company chooses to release.

What this means for Timber Pizza in Maryland

Timber Pizza’s own website currently lists Maryland locations in Annapolis and Edgewater, alongside restaurants in Washington, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Reagan Airport. That existing footprint helps explain why Montgomery County is a logical next step for a brand that already operates catering and mobile pizza trucks around the broader DMV area.

In its October 6 announcement, Timber said the Maryland agreement moves the company closer to a goal of reaching 15 locations by the end of 2027. The release also described the Chevy Chase and Bethesda deal as another step in its Mid-Atlantic growth strategy, but it did not say which of the two restaurants would open first.

The brand’s origin story is also part of its local appeal. Timber Pizza said Andrew Dana and Chris Brady started the business in 2014 with a pizza oven and a 1967 Chevrolet pickup truck. Since then, the company says it has grown from that mobile setup into a regional restaurant, catering, and truck operation. For now, though, Montgomery County diners have a place name, not a street address, and that is the key detail to keep in mind as this opening story develops.
