Avoid too hot water when you wash your hair or hair system. I know, it’s easy to wash your hair system, but sometime it’s tough for you to wash your original hair with cool water. If you want to maintain your hair color longer and fresher, try to wash with cool water or lukewarm water.

 

3.Don’t Wash Your Hair Frequently

It is common sense that the hair will fade every time you wash your hair. Reduce washing times thus to reduce color loss. It is recommend to wash your original hair 2-3 times a week and wash your colored hair system about every six times you wear it.

4.Use Sulfate-free Shampoo and Conditioner

Sodium laureth sulfate, also known as sodium laureth ether sulfate, is used to make your shampoo and conditioner sudsy. They have the ability to attract water and oil, thus to efficiently lift dirt and oil from the body and rinse down the drain when mixed with water. But the problem is, they are too good at doing their job. They will strip the natural oils and moisture in your hair, which can lead to the fading of your colored hair.

 

5.Avoid Heat

Try to avoid heat styling tools, such as blow dryer, flat iron, and curling iron. It’s often the price to pay for a great style. If hot tools are a must, do not forget to spray on heat protestant product. This will somehow minimize the damage to your hair. 

 

6.Minimize Exposure to Sunlight

Stay away from the sun if you don’t have a hat, otherwise your hair color will fade. If you want to do any outdoor activities, such as hiking or going to the beach, make sure to cover your hair or hair system up to reduce hair exposure to the sunlight.
