Don’t Neglect Your House!

This is easier said than done, especially when there are so many things you’re going to be doing at one time. Life just gets in the way, and before you know it you really have neglected your house a little. You only realize that things need cleaning and fixing when it’s too late. You’ve been meaning to fix the dodgy flush on the toilet and all of a sudden it’s blocked and you’ve had to call an emergency plumbing service. You think to yourself, “a toilet is a necessity, why have I left this issue?”. But this is only natural, and unless you have a lot of time and attention on your hands, then you’ll realize that most houses do become like this from time to time, especially if you have children. But fear not, there are some simple things you can do that will bring your house back to life before you know it. All you need is a few weekends of dedication, and a bit of help from the rest of your family, and before you know it you’re going to have that sparkling house you’ve always desired. Don’t worry about needing too much money, the following changes won’t require much at all.

Deep Clean

We aren’t talking about a hoover and a polish every day or so. We’re talking about getting on your knees and scrubbing the main room that can really collect some dirt and grime, the kitchen. It is inevitable that after some time you will need to do this, if not you will start to notice a smell mixed in with the look of grime. Even if you live in a rented home, this is still a must. You must regularly clean your home and not leave it to an end of lease cleaning firm, because the likelihood is there will be huge amounts of grime and dirt.

So let’s start with the kitchen. The first thing that’s going to take a hit is your sink. There’s all sorts being flushed down their day in, day out. There’s obviously going to be a buildup of nasty things before you know it. There are sink cleaning treatments out there that you can use if you’re starting to notice a bit of an unpleasant smell, but a bit of thick bleach should also do the trick. First put the plunger to the plughole and force down any food that might have become blocked over time. Even if it isn’t visible at the top, it could have become wedged deep down. Then rinse some cold water to make sure anything you may have dislodged has moved away. Pour some thick bleach down there, there’s no such thing as too little, and leave it to soak for around five to ten minutes. When you wash away you should be left with a perfect sink once more.

Then you need to focus on the oven. This is the next thing that is definitely going to have built up a bit of grime over its time. Depending on how long the oven has been collecting dirt and grime, it may need a professional clean from oven cleaning Maidstone, or someone similar, before you tackle it. Again, there are deep cleaning oven treatments that you can use that might be a bit better than any home remedies. Firstly, use some warm soapy water to get any bits of dried food that might be in there. It won’t lift the grease, but we’re only cleaning the food out at the minute. Then you need to use your deep oven cleaning treatment to really lift the dirt and grime. There will be instructions on the bottle, but it is always best to leave it for a while longer than it suggests to make sure everything is lifted.

Design Ideas

Once you’ve got some cleaning out the way, it’s time to start making a difference with the furniture you can add into your home. One of the main rooms in your home will be the Dining room. Many dining rooms are easily neglected when it comes to decorating. The main rooms such as the kitchen or the living room are usually first to be done. But there’s so much that can be done to a dining room that can transform the look of it. Firstly you need to get rid of your old furniture and bring in some new modern pieces. It is up to you what color scheme you go for, you need to think about the rest of your room before you make that decision. But something that is looking really nice at the minute is the light oak look. It compliments pretty much any color scheme, and you can put some lovely cushioned chairs around the table, preferably in the oak style with cream cushions, that will really set the room off. If you know you want a different color but the color of your room won’t suit it, it’s time to get out your paintbrush and give the whole room a makeover.

Those two changes that you can make will really ensure that you’re not neglecting your house. As we said, it is easy enough for it to happen, but you do need to make sure that every now and then you are getting your scrubs on and making sure everything is clean, and that everything is modern and the way you’d like it in terms of design.
