Cost of Private Versus Homeschool

The Cost of Private Versus Homeschool Education

There are quite a few people who want to compare the cost of private school education to that of a homeschooled education. Some people may think that the cost of private school is the be-all and end-all of this debate. Yes, it can be of huge significance, but you also need to consider what is best for your child’s education. To make a detailed decision, having a look at some of the different private schools in houston, (or those in your area), as well as speaking with multiple homeschooling tutors, can help you to accurately compare them to each other to see which option benefits you more. But the cost of either choice can be incredibly important. The costs are very difficult to compare, especially when you look at the benefits, but we will do our best. For this demonstration, the private school will be generalized, and the homeschool option of choice will be an online homeschool program.

The Costs of Private vs. Homeschool Education

Private school education is by no means cheap. Most private educations cost thousands of dollars per year and operate on a term basis. A homeschool program, particularly an online homeschool program, costs only a few hundred dollars a year on average and has flexible hours of study.

Most online homeschool programs also have online tutoring help available, allowing students to move at their own pace, and only get help for the concepts they need help with.

However, there are lots of reasons why a private education could be the right choice for your child. For example, if you are interested in providing your child with a faith-based education, doing some research into a Christian private school such as The Christian Academy, could help you to make a decision about how to proceed.

The Perks of An Online Homeschool Program

Even if the costs of the two programs were closer, the benefits of going with the online homeschool program could possibly outweigh anything you could get with private education.

More colleges are seeking out students who were homeschooled on a yearly basis, instead of waiting for students to come to them to apply. This environment and dedication is something that few private school options can replicate.

If after reading this, you are still set on sending your child to a private school, then that’s absolutely fine. If you are religious and looking for private school education, then you may want to have a look at this private middle school to see if this is somewhere you would like your children to attend.

  1. As a former educator and parent I am a proponent of home schooling. My daughter went to a private school for two years which was very expensive and not as good as the public school she had attended. The students I taught in public school who had been previously home schooled were the most studious and well behaved ones in my class.

  2. My children are grown and my grandchildren are approaching school age, thank you so much for the information regarding the online homeschool program, sounds like a great option for them!

  3. I’ve noticed that there’s been a trend of more people leaning toward Online Homeschool Programs. My mom is a public school teacher (and I went to public school my whole life) but I can the benefits of all types of education avenues.

  4. I homeschooled my kids when it was a lot rarer. We chose to create our own curriculum and used what was around us. The only text books we used were math books and we bought them used! All three went to great colleges, (one went into the military and currently has three degrees!). Cost of homeschooling….priceless

  5. I think private schools in general will always be more expensive than home schooling, some might be better than homeschooling but depends on the school same with homeschooling depends on program

  6. My kids attended a private school at one point and were homeschooled at another point. Online homeschooling is a great option for some students!

  7. Oh don’t get me started on school right now!! I am so disappointed with my kids school. One teacher told me that she basically ignores my DD4 because she listens and does her best! WHAT?? I wish I could do homeschooling! What a great opportunity!! Future School looks great!

  8. I’m so glad I read this! My son is only 10 months old, but I have been going back and forth about whether or not I want to homeschool him. I think I’ve made up my mind! Now I will just have to talk my husband into agreeing to let me homeschool. Haha (He’s not too fond of the idea)

  9. Nice article. I was home schooled as a preschooler and was always way advanced in school. I think the one on one teaching is so valuable to young students.

  10. I love that parents have so many options now for cirricuulm for school. Haivng it online really opens up so many more opportunities for kids.

  11. My daughters go to a public school. I often thought about homeschooling them, but I like that they can make friends and open up more. There is definitely a huge difference in all the schools.

  12. Thanks for sharing this great info. I’ve always wanted to send my kids to a private school and often thought about homeschooling

  13. I am an unexpected homeschooler and I love all of the resources that are available now. It really makes the education more well rounded.

  14. Homeschooling seems to be such an ‘in’ thing at the moment, I don’t know if I could manage it as I know teachers do an enormous amount of work both inside and outside the classroom. We won’t be private schooling our children either as it’s so expensive here in Ireland.
