15 Things that must go on your baby registry

When planning your baby registry for your shower there are a few things that are a must. Most people forget when they register that most of the stuff you get you will not use for months maybe even years, but there are a few things that you will use right away and will make your life so much easier.

  1. Baby Bag

I know you already thought of this. What most people do is try and save money here. Don’t do it. It’s like a nice purse spend a little more and it will pay off. There is nothing worse than your baby bag falling apart while you are out and about. Also, think of your style here this bag is going to be part of your life for years to come. If you think after a few months you will be switching back to your cute mini bag think again. This is now your main accessory for a long time.

  1. Travel System

When looking for a car seat look for the whole system. A car seat that clicks right into a stroller is so much better. Plus, you don’t have to wake your sleeping angel every time you need to get out of the car. This will make days out and errands so much easier. Correspondingly, remember to read plenty of car seat reviews like this one that compares chicco keyfit 30 vs graco snugride 35. Above all, reading as many reviews as possible can help you to choose the best car seat for your needs.

  1. Portable bed/ Play yard

Yes, this is a must. Not only do you have somewhere safe and clean for your little one to go when you travel. You also have a moveable bed in your own house for your little one. I had this set up in our living room and we could easily move it to the yard or kitchen, ect. There was always somewhere for my little one.

  1. Bottles

Even if you are breast feeding grab a few bottles. You never know what might happen if you are not there having a bottle can mean a big difference for your little one. It can be as simple as you are stuck in traffic and you can get home to your angel. Having a few bottles means your little one won’t have to starve till you get home.

  1. A few cute toys

Now here remember you don’t need to go nuts. You are having a newborn not a toddler. A few cute toys to start your little one off is fine. Right know they are not going to do much with them then look.

  1. Health care

You are going to need those little nail clippers sooner than you think. Also, make sure to pick up some of the baby meds, shampoo, lotion, you know all those cute things you have been dying to buy. Go ahead and buy some and put some on your baby registry. You are going to need more than you think.

  1. Diapers

Even if you are going to use disposable diapers, make sure you buy one or two cloth diapers. They are very easy to use and even though you have to clean them, they will be a life saver at 3am when you run out of the disposable. No one wants to run to the store in the middle of the night. If you have a few for emergency’s it will save you running to the store. A few more minutes of sleep can mean all the difference with a new born.

  1. Diaper pail

Yes, you can just throw them in the trash. If you do be prepared to be running out to the trash can every hour, your house is going to smell. Anyone who has changed a baby poop diaper will tell you “get the diaper pail”. One of the best investments you will make.

  1. Clothes

Think Onesies and Sleepers here. Yes, I know we all want the cute fluffy dresses for little girls and have you seen the cute suites and ties for baby boys. Ohhh they are so cute. Leave them at the store. Not only are they a pain to get on they are going to need to be changed in 5 minutes. Spend the money on more onesies and sleepers. I bought all the cute outfits and guess what they were so cute hanging in the closet and they were just as cute at the garage sale a few months later with the tags still on.

  1. Swing

This is one of those baby extras you will actually use almost right away. Unlike a lot of the others that will not be good till they can keep their own head up this one will let your little one sit up a little more and the rocking will help sooth them when they are fussy.

  1. Belly cream

I know what you are thinking should I really register for stuff for me. The answer is YES normally baby showers are between the 7th and 8th month. This is also the time your belly is going to grow. A good belly cream can make all the difference in those last few months, not only to battle stretch marks, but also how itchy you get. It’s also great to use when you are recovering after the baby is born.

  1. Sleep Sac

Getting a few sleep sac’s will make all the difference when putting them to bed. Remember they cannot use blankets for quite a while so having a few sleep sacks will make sure they are warm and cuddly when its bed time.

  1. Wubba Nub

If you are planning to use a pacifier, then you can’t do better than the Wubba Nub. Not only are they the same pacifiers that they give you in the hospital but they have a cute animal attached. Our little guy loved them. I loved that when he got a little bigger and tossed it, it did not go rolling away. It was also very helpful to keep it into a little guy’s mouth, he spits it out a whole lot less then if it was just the pacifier. Plus, they are really cute.

  1. Disposable Diapers and wipes

If you are going disposable make sure to stock up on wipes and diapers, but don’t buy too many new born diapers they grow fast. You can never have to many wipes collect these like its candy on Halloween.

  1. Burp Cloths

Yes, you will use these for months to come. Make sure to stock up on these with spit up you will most likely be using a few a day. You don’t want to have to do laundry all day long.

Now that you have your musts have fun with the rest. Remember when planning your baby registry to have different price points. That way no matter what a person’s budget they can get you something and still be part of your special day. One last tip make sure you register with a store that your guests can buy online. For people like me we don’t have any stores here so if I have to buy a present I have to shop online. This will make it easier for you and your guests.
